EndoMarch aims to raise awareness of endometriosis in society. The campaign takes place worldwide once a year. The German version of the extensive event was previously held at various locations such as Berlin, Leipzig and Halle (Saale). Due to the enormous organizational challenges, the organizers have now decided to design EndoMarch as an online conference for its first time.
Largest Awareness Event in the Endometriosis Sector
EndoMarch takes place every year in March and is coordinated internationally from the USA. It arose from the realization that Endometriose and its consequences are often trivialized and that the disease is hardly present in public. The aim is thus to raise awareness of the chronic disease, which is estimated to affect 200 million women and girls. The initiators hope that this will in turn lead to better and faster diagnoses, the development of medical expertise, individual therapy and aftercare concepts and greater investment in research.
The previous EndoMarch events were well accepted. They were filled with lectures from all relevant medical fields. New findings in diagnostics, treatment, rehabilitation and self-help were also discussed.
Virtual conference planned
30 March 2019 marks the sixth anniversary of the campaign. Countless countries will participate once again. In Germany, as well, various regional campaigns are taking place. As initiator the non-profit Endometriosis Network goes this time however a completely new way bei of its meeting. For the first time, the event will be designed as an online conference. This variant was chosen because it became increasingly difficult to coordinate the scheduling of rooms, speakers and guests. In addition, the costs for a classic „offline event“ were not insignificant.
This new format does not change the content. It is still a matter of exchanging new developments and interesting facts about endometriosis and promoting public relations. An online conference even has a decisive advantage: It will allow participation from home. Even single mothers or patients who recently underwent surgery have the opportunity to inform themselves comfortably and without obligation.
